I Choose You,Baby!!!
When I was in college, UGK( Underground Kingz) released a song called International Players Anthem. In the clean version of the song, one of the lines states “I choose you baby”. So what does this have to do with choices and purpose? I want you to say just like Pimp C said , “I chose you with your purpose and the whole process that it entails.” Choose it baby…. Hold on, give me a minute to explain….
There’s so much information online about finding purpose. Once you find this “purpose”, you will have the key to your life. Purpose is like the holy grail- once you obtain- life will be perfect.
NOPE! IT CAN BE A WHOLE MESS.
If you google, how to find your purpose, you will find countless articles from various perspective. Purpose is always described as this larger than life, grandiose thing that once you find it, you’re consistently on cloud 9 without any struggles.
I want to clear the air, finding purpose can be a messy process.
It takes time. You try something, you fail then repeat 10X or even 20X or even more. There is beauty in this situation(“ remember problems are really opportunities”). Every choice you make, you will find yourself closer or further away from your goals and purpose. One of the ways to find your purpose, is to determine to become self- aware. Self- awareness means determining your behavioral patterns and knowing what your strengths are. There are so many ways to start this process. Some of my favorite ways to determine self-awareness are through the StrengthsFinder and DISC assessment.
